AVALIAÇÃO DOS TRATAMENTOS FISIOTERAPÊUTICOS NA DOENÇA ARTERIAL OBSTRUTIVA PERIFÉRICA: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA
Abstract
Introduction: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) of the lower limb causes claudication (IC) and intermittent pain, in milder cases, continuous pain, and loss of function, in the most severe. Exercise appears to be beneficial in controlling PAD, but there is no consensus on which interventions. Objective: To evaluate the physiotherapeutic treatments available for PAOD and determine the most beneficial quality for a better clinical, functional quality of life. Method: This is a systematic review and the databases consulted were: PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane, and PEDro. Inclusion criteria were: adults with a clinical diagnosis of PAOD, treated with exercise therapy, and randomized clinical trials that scored ≥5 on the PEDro scale. Results: Of the 1026 articles found in the initial search, only 8 studies were included. With a total of 1214 volunteers, with a mean age of 67.3 years ±8.8. As allowed physiotherapeutic techniques were: exercise therapy, exercise supervision, non-supervision exercise, cognitive intervention, functional electrical stimulation such as coercion, and use of pumping exercises. The rehabilitation programs that can be performed and the highest quality in improving life are those that are the ones that are the most facility. Conclusion: Exercise therapy is the gold standard in PAOD management, as it improves ambulatory performance, increases the distance between the onset of symptoms and the total distance walked, as well as improves the quality of life. Walking was the most representative therapeutic strategy. Keywords: Intermittent claudication. Peripheral arterial disease. Aerobic exercises.
