A TERAPIA COM EXERCÍCIOS MELHORA O CONTROLE DA ASMA E A QUALIDADE DE VIDA EM OBESOS COM ASMA: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA
Abstract
Introduction: Obesity affects millions of people around the world and is related to reduced life expectancy, one of the comorbidities being asthma. Objective: to evaluate the effect of exercise therapy on asthma control, quality of life and lung function in obese adults through a systematic review. Methods: Planned clinical trials investigating the effect of exercise therapy on asthma control outcomes, quality of life, and lung function in obese adults with asthma were designed for the study. PubMed, Scielo, PEDro and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched until August 2023. Results: 5 studies were included with a total of 528 obese patients with asthma. The average age of participants was 46.1 years; 72.6% of participants were female and the average body mass index was 40.9 kg/m2. The interventions varied in duration from 12 weeks and included walking, mixed aerobic and strength exercises and other unspecified physical training programs. Exercise therapy improved asthma control, quality of life, and lung function. Conclusions: Exercise therapy improves asthma control and quality of life in obese patients with asthma Keywords: Exercise therapy, rehabilitation, asthma, obesityAttribution License that allows the sharing of the manuscript with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this magazine.
