A A CONDIÇÃO DA MULHER E SEU POSTERIOR CRESCIMENTO NO MEIO ARQUITETÔNICO E URBANÍSTICO
Abstract
The XXI century calls for a fight for gender equality. This debate is not common sense, due to lack of information or prejudice, which make the discussion more complex. However, even though some goals have been achieved by women and a large part of the construction market, especially architecture, is occupied by female individuals, there is still a great disparity in labor rights when compared to men. Aimed at bringing a broader and deeper view on the subject, bibliographical and documental researches were carried out in order to acknowledge the historical achievements and battles fought by women, which are still necessary in the current context. This article will introduce this discussion, starting from some chronological facts relevant to the meaning and place that women occupy in society, in architectural and sociocultural aspects. Quantitative data will also be examined to foster analysis, in addition to presenting how architecture based on Vitruvian and phallocentric precepts influence architectural works and urban morphology. Thus, the aim is to understand the current role of women in architecture and society, how this patriarchal context negatively influences the female space, and how it will be possible to visualize more optimistic and egalitarian scenarios for women in this socio-architectural context.Attribution License that allows the sharing of the manuscript with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this magazine.
